How to Hide the Cortana Search Box on the Windows 10 Taskbar

One of the most spoken regarding features in the latest version of Windows 10 was the Cortana personal assistant that is integrated directly into the taskbar. But let's say you do not want to waste all that taskbar space?

Note that hiding the search box doesn’t really disable Cortana - keep looking at below for guidelines on how to try this. This will simply hide the box from the Taskbar.

Simply right-click on any empty space on the taskbar, visit Search, and after that modify “Show search box” to either “Show Cortana icon” or “Hidden”.

When you change it to an icon, it’ll show a ring like you can see below.

Turning off Cortana

If you have currently enabled Cortana, the options dialog changes completely and is invisible under the Notebook icon - from here you can click on Configurations and get to the screen earlier.

Once you disable Cortana and Bing, you can then hide the icon.

It is truly fine that you can turn it off - we would have possibly preferred that Bing stay out of our Start menu in the 1st place though.
